hey everybody, I had my first DNF this weekend at Gulf Coast due to not being able to keep anything down.
Basically, I tried to swallow a salt stick pill, and ended up hacking it up, then every subsequent pill. I took a gamble and tried Hammer Heed and Sustained Energy in a concentrated bottle. Aside from tasting like ass, I couldn’t keep that down either, nor did I feel confident that it would provide enough fuel for me.
can anybody speak for Hammer products ? Are they a good product ?
I might just have to go back to Infinit, but after having bubble guts for the whole duration of IMFL, I’m not confident with them either.
Can anybody shed light on what I’m doing wrong ?
Here was my race day nutrition schedule:
pre-race
2 waffles with syrup 2.5 hours before start
1 carbboom gel packet with water 30 minutes before start
bike
2 24 oz insulated bottles
200 calories of Heed (50 grams carbs)
686 calories of Sustained Energy (146 grams carbs)
82 calories of Base Performance Base Amino
the plan was to sip from the concentrated bottle every 15 minutes and chug water to dilute it.
I’m 5’11, 177 lbs, I have Crohn’s Disease, but it is managing well enough.
