Heavy man, lots of gravity,....mmm something that can absorb shock!  Depending on the shape of your foot (supinating/pronating) i would look at something that in a ‘straight last’ (unless supinating or pronating) and then probably a brooks or Asics that tend to have absorption that lasts.  My opinion is that nike and addidas tend to lose their absorption qualities quickly.  Just my opinion.

I’d try the new MBTs from The Athletes Foot.  Get them using their foot muscles - rather than than the shoe doing all the work cheese

Why would you use an MBT for abig person?  Aren’t MBT’s just for calf strength?  Would a big persons calf already be working enough?

MBT’s would really suck on along run! Wouldn’t you just want a pair of shoes that are sturdy with good cushioning. Do they still make Gel Foundations??

Anyone who goes for a run in MBT’s is a lunatic!  Those things are hard enough to walk in let alone run in.
Get a good solid cushioned shoe of any description.  Except Nike,..they suck.

If you have flat, wide feet and low arches then these are the shoes for you. The testking 642-587 is the most cushioned shoe I have ever worn bar none. I used to be a hard core Nike user until I tried these at the request of a friend. The Power Cushion is better and Air Max, Air Zoom or Asics’ venerable Gel cushioning. I have owned four pairs of the Asics Gel Resolutions and they are great but the Yonex testking 70-562 is better cushioned. The only downside of owning these shoes is that the Endurance Rubber outsole is not that durable. These shoes last me three months of playing three times a week.

The next problem was the recessed area on the out sole (where the cleat bolts in); it was located up so far above the lugs that my cleats won’t reach.

Well, it is hard to know without looking at the foot. Height doesn’t really make a difference and the weight is very minimal in the decision on what shoe to buy. You really need to look at your gait, and how your foot is formed. Here is a test: Step barefoot onto puddle of water then step onto the concrete. You will see how your arch is formed. A flat foot needs a different show than a high arch. If you know your arch (flat, high, regular) and you take an old pair of shoes in with you when you buy, any good shoe guy can get you a great pair of shoes.

Feel free to ask me if you have any other questions. I worked at a running institute for awhile and have a degree in Fitness, and working on a masters in biomechanics. Drop me a message and I will gladly response.

hello sir,

Why shoe categories? - Because there are different shapes of feet and different amounts of foot motion, the shoe companies develop shoes that do different things. High arched feet are curved, flat feet are straight. Some shoes are curved to meet the needs of high arched feet, and some are straight for flat feet. The rest of the shoes are made semi-curved, we reccomend shoes for the shape of foot they fit, and the kind of foot motion they are designed for.

There are various types of shoes for overweight men available in the shoes stores. Almost all shoe companies keep the needs of heavy runners in mind as they design shoes. A number of running shoes for heavy men are available from Nike, Reebok, Asics. But you need to know your foot type before you settle for one of the pairs of shoes.

Running shoes for heavy people should have extra cushioning and be flexible for maximum mobility. There are specialty shoe companies that can add extra cushion to the insoles if the market brands do not have enough. The shoes should fit snugly to your feet without being too tight. They should also be lightweight for long distance running.
